With already much of the alphabets used to name their mobile handsets, Sony is now bringing up the M series. We are here bringing you the review on the latest addition to the sony series i.e the Sony Xperia M. Lets have a look on the specs and features of this 4-inch Sony device : -

Design, Display & Form Factor of the Sony Xperia M -

Talking of the side buttons, they are similar to those in the Sony Xperia Z handset. Some of the major features in this smartphone that are not available in the similar kind of Samsung’s smartphone include the aluminum power button on the side, the volume rocker keys, and the dedicated camera shutter button. A thin band runs around on each side on the side panel which is based on the color of the device. There’s a silver band on white coloured devices and black band on the black ones.

The 4-inch display screen, an illuminating zone, sensors and front camera above the display give its front side a classy look. The back side contains the rear camera with flash on the top, microphone and speaker grill near the bottom side. Another good thing about this phone is that it comes with a removable back cover having the Sony logo and branding on it.

The inside contains a 1750 mAh battery, a Micro SIM card slot and the Micro SD card slot. On the top, it has the 3.5mm headset jack. Although the 9.3mm thickness for the Xperia M may seem to be a bit high, but when you have the device in hands actually, it won’t seem to bother as the comfort in hands is contributed by its shape and thickness.

Interface, Internal Powering, Storage and Battery

With a 1 GHz Dual core processor, the Sony Xperia M delivers good performance. But, you may experience difficulties in playing the high-end graphic games like Asphalt 7 or Grand Theft Auto. This is not only due to the processor and RAM capabilities, but due to internal memory restrictions which will not be able to support so many such games.

With Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and Sony’s interface, this smartphone does a pretty nice job of integrating several widgets on the home screens. The 1GB RAM delivers decent good multitasking performance. The device comes with an internal memory of 4GB, out of which only 2GB is user accessible. Around 500 MB of space is already eaten up by the various pre-installed apps and data.

Camera capture quality, Video Recording and Gallery

Although the device comes with a 5MP camera, but it does not quite lead upto the expectations. Infact, the 3-year old Samsung Galaxy S will give a better camera quality with a same 5-megapixel camera. The LED flash throws light at a small radius, again making the capturing no good. But one good thing in this device is the lens glass which hs been embedded a little inside, thus making it safer from scratching.

Some of the the sample pictures clicked with this device’s camera have been shown below. With the actual size being 2592 x 1944 pixels scaled down and even the HDR mode didn’t made much of a difference.
