The users of Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 SPH-L720 can now update their phone with the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean based Slim Bean Build 8 final ROM that is an after-market custom ROM build by one of the popular Slim Bean. These ROM are famous for their lightweight, smooth and fast operation. After the launch of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, Slim Bean started working on making Android 4.3 Jelly Bean based Custom ROM for the supported devices and currently they rolled out Android 4.3 Beta 2 for many devices. The Slim Bean build 8 was the final stable version based on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean before the Slim Bean 4.3 based official ROM. Custom ROM give your device a whole new customized look with many customize features than the stock ROM. The latest Slim Bean comes with lots of changes and the bugs which were reported by the users have been fixed. Follow the step by step procedure to try out the fast and compressed custom ROM Slim Bean 4.2.2 Build 8 for your device.


Installation Instruction of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Based Slim Bean Build 8 ROM on Galaxy S4 L720

Step 1:

Download Slim Bean Build 8 ROM for Galaxy S4 L720 [Slim Bean 4.2.2 Build 8 ROM] and Google Apps [Slim Bean Gapps]

Step 2:

Connect your device to the PC using the USB cable and mount the storage.

Step 3:

Copy the downloaded zip files to your phone’s SD card once you are able to access the card from the computer. Note: Don’t extract any file.

Step 4:

Once the transfer of file is finished, disconnect your device and switch off the phone.

Step 5:

Boot into ClockworkMod recovery by pressing and holding the “Volume Up”, “Home” and “Power button” together until the Samsung logo comes up, release all three buttons for half a second and hold them again. You will see ClokworkMod recovery screen.[use volume buttons to scroll around and Power button to select]. You can also use: Recovery Mode without Key Combination.

Step 6:

As mentioned earlier, it’s important for you to perform a Nandroid backup of your existing ROM so that you can restore it later in case you want to go back or the new ROM is not working properly. Select Backup and Restore, select Backup again on the next screen to perform a Nandroid backup. After the backup process is completed, return to the main recovery menu.

Step 7:

To eliminate clash between the new and the previous ROM, select “wipe data/factory reset”, then select “Yes” on next screen to confirm your action and then wait for few minutes until the data wiping process is finished. Now go back to the CWM recovery main menu and select “Wipe cache partition”. After completing the wiping cache partition process, select “Wipe Dalvik Cache” under advance option to perform Dalvik cache wiping. It’s now safe to proceed to the next step when all of this is done.

Step 8:

First select install zip from SD card and then select choose zip from SD card. Locate the Slim Bean4.2.2 Build 8 ROM zip file that you copied earlier in Step 3 and select it by pressing the Power button. The ROM installation procedure will start as soon as you confirm the installation on the next screen.

Step 9:

Once the ROM installation process end, repeat the step 8 but this time choose gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip instead of ROM zip to install the Google apps package.

Step 10:

After everything is done, go back to the main recovery menu and reboot your device by selecting the reboot system now. The first boot will take around 5 minutes (max 15 min or else it means stuck on boot screen) and the phone will boot into the new ROM.
