Avatar team has launched their latest nightly build. This is an Android jellybean 4.2.2 based ROM which is named Avatar ROM build 3.1. And the best thing is Motorola Droid 3 users can download and install this ROM on their device. This is not an official firmware that is launched for Droid 3 but an aftermarket custom ROM which is launched by the Avatar team. The Droid 3 not yet received the jellybean 4.2.2 update but you can use the features of the version by installing the avatar ROM. Installing custom ROM will give your phone new customised looks and features with smooth and fast operation. They had also launched the final stable version Build 3.0 some time before and now is currently rolling out the nightly build for all devices including the Droid 3.This version is build by adding extras features to the popular ROM Cyanogen Mod 10.1. Read through this page to know the procedure to install the Avatar ROM build 3.1 for your Motorola Droid 3.


Instruction to Install the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean based Avatar ROM Build 3.1 on Motorola Droid 3.

Step 1:

First download the Avatar ROM Build 3.1 for Droid 3 and Google Apps

Step 2:

Connect your Droid 3 using the USB cable and the mount your storage.

Step 3:

Copy the downloaded files into the SD card without extracting the files.

Step4:

Disconnect phone after the copying process is finished and switch off the phone.

Step5:

Now boot into recovery mode by pressing and holding the Volume down and power button together until the recovery load( use volume button to scroll and power button to select) You can also try this: Recovery Mode without Key Combination

Step6:

It is important to backup your existing ROM, it will be handy if the new ROM is not working or if you want to go back to your previous ROM. To do the process, select Backup and Restore, then on the next screen, select Backup again. Go back to main recovery menu after backup process done.

Step7:

To avoid clashing between the new ROM and previous ROM you will need to perform some wiping task. To wipe, select wipe data/factory reset, then select yes on next screen to confirm your action. Wait few minutes till the data wiping process done. Now go back to CWM recovery main menu. Select wipe cache partition and after wiping cache partition process completed, select Wipe Dalvik Cache under advance option to perform Dalvik cache wiping. After the process is done it is safe to proceed to the next step.

Step8:

For installing the Slimbean, Select install zip from SD card, and then select choose zip from SD card. Now, locate the avatar-nightly_3.1-369-20130809-NIGHTLY-solana.zip file that you copied earlier in Step 3 and select it by pressing Power button. On the next screen confirm the installation. And the installation process will start.

Step9:

After the installation process, install the Google apps by repeating the process you have done in the step 8 the only difference is selecting the gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip instead of ROM zip.

Step10:

After all the process is done. Go back to the main recovery menu and select reboot system now to reboot the phone. The smartphone will get booted into the new ROM, the first boot usually take about 5 minutes. (Max 15 min or it will get stuck on the boot screen.)
