The Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 (3G+WiFi) was launched way back in the year 2010, and received it’s last update with Gingerbread 2.3.6. No further updates will be provided by Samsung for this device. If you’ve been using the Galaxy Tab P1000 and haven’t updated to the latest firmware, we’d like to help you to do so. If you’re living in Italy you can update the device with the XXJU2 Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread Official Firmware. If not, you can update the firmware either by an Over the Air (OTA) update or through Samsung KIES. Or you could just follow our simple tutorial to update your Galaxy Tab P1000 to XXJU2 Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread firmware manually. Note that as we’ll be using ODIN utility in this tutorial, we won’t require a custom recovery or a rooted Galaxy Tab P1000. Once you’re done, you can root your Galaxy Tab P1000 using a proper rooting method.

How to Update Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread Official XXJU2 Firmware on Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000

T311XXJU2 Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread Official Firmware- Complete Installation Tutorial

Step 1:

Download Odin 3.07 and Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread T311XXJU2 for Galaxy Tab P1000 to your computer.

Step 2:

When you extract the firmware zip file, you should find a .tar.md5 file and some other files.

Step 3:

Now extract the Odin zip file and make sure that Odin3 v3.07.exe and a few other files are present.

Step 4:

Turn off your phone (wait to confirm that it has been completely switched off). Then start Download Mode in your Galaxy Tab P1000 by pressing and holding Volume Down + Home + Power buttons together long enough to see a construction Android robot appear on your screen. Press the Volume Up button once more to enter into Download Mode.

Step 5:

Now execute the file ‘Odin3 v3.07.exe’ that you obtained in Step 3. Please note that you may need to run the file with administrator privileges to ensure a smooth installation.

Step 6:

Now connect your PC and Galaxy Tab P1000. As soon as you plug in the USB cable, a message will pop up under Odin’s message box that says “Added”. Try a different USB port if you don’t receive this

message. If that doesn’t solve your problem, then maybe you should try reinstalling your USB drivers. You should also see COM port with a number in Yellow if your device has been successfully added. Proceed to the next step only if you see the “Added” message in Odin.

Step 7:

From the P1000XXJU2 folder that you obtained in Step 2, select these files in Odin after clicking the following buttons:

After clicking the PDA Button, select the .tar.md5 file with *code* appearing in its name.
After clicking the Phone Button, select the file with *modem* in its name (do this only if you find such a file in your extracted folder from Step 2)
After clicking the PIT Button, select the .pit file. (do this only if you find such a file in your extracted folder from Step 2)
After clicking the CSC Button, select the file with *csc* in its name (do this only if you find such a file in your extracted folder from Step 2)

Step 8:

Make sure that “F. Reset Time” and “Auto Reboot”are the only checkboxes that are selected in your open Odin window. If you’ve added the .pit file, make sure that the “Re-Partition” checkbox is selected too.

Step 9:

Verify that you have carried out steps 1 through 8 properly, and click on the start button to start the flashing process.

Step 10 :

Your phone will reboot itself once installation is complete and you will see a PASS message with a green background in Odin. Now you may safely disconnect your device from your computer.
